Flickering & Dimming Lights Repair

Lights that flicker, dim when the AC kicks on, or pulse at night have a cause — loose connections, overloaded circuits or utility issues. We find it and fix it.

A single flickering fixture is usually a bulb, a dimmer mismatch or a worn switch. Flickering across several rooms is a different animal: loose connections at the panel, an overloaded shared circuit, or a failing service connection — and loose connections are a genuine fire risk worth taking seriously.

We start by mapping where and when the flicker happens: one fixture, one circuit or the whole house; constant or only when big appliances start. That pattern usually points straight to the cause — an LED/dimmer compatibility problem we can cure with the right hardware, a device connection that needs re-termination, or panel and service-lug issues we find with a thermal check. Whole-house dimming when the furnace or AC starts can also be a utility-side connection breaking down, which we document for your power company.

Frequently asked questions

My LEDs flicker on a dimmer. Do I need new wiring?
Usually not — most LED flicker on dimmers is a compatibility problem between the lamp and an older dimmer. A modern LED-rated dimmer, correctly matched, fixes it in one visit.
The lights dim every time the AC starts. Is that normal?
A brief, slight dip can be normal on a shared circuit. Pronounced whole-house dimming is not — it points to an undersized or deteriorating service connection and deserves an inspection.
Can flickering lights really cause a fire?
Flicker caused by a loose connection can. A loose termination arcs, heat builds, and insulation degrades over time. That's why we treat multi-room flicker as a priority call rather than a cosmetic issue.
