Water & Flood Damage Electrical Inspection

Flooded basement? Water in the panel? Wiring, devices and panels that got wet need real evaluation — some can be dried and tested, some must be replaced.

Water and electricity fail slowly together. A panel or outlet that got wet may work fine today and corrode into a hazard over the following months — which is why insurers and inspectors treat flooded electrical equipment seriously, and why 'it still works' is not the standard.

After water intrusion we inspect what got wet and how: clean rainwater behaves differently than contaminated floodwater, and a splash is different from submersion. Breakers, panels and devices that were submerged are generally replaced — their internals can't be reliably cleaned. Wiring is evaluated by type and exposure, then insulation-tested rather than guessed at. You get a written assessment separating what's safe, what needs replacement and what should be monitored, which doubles as documentation for restoration contractors and insurance.

Frequently asked questions

My outlets work after the flood. Do they really need replacement?
Devices that were submerged should be replaced even if they work — corrosion inside contacts and on terminations progresses after the water is gone, and failure later happens under load.
Water got into my electrical panel. Can it be dried out?
A panel that took significant water — especially submersion — is replaced, not dried. Breaker internals and the bus can't be restored to a condition anyone should trust.
Can you work alongside our restoration company?
Yes — we handle safe disconnection, the electrical scope of the rebuild and re-energizing with inspection, coordinated with the mitigation timeline.
